Spring 2021 Update

All of our centres and programs are currently full, with long waiting lists. You can scroll down to be added to our waiting list, and we also encourage you to get on other waiting lists in the meantime–Westcoast has some helpful information: www.wstcoast.org/choosing-child-care/search

Our waiting list for children under 3 (infants/toddlers) is extremely long and priority for these spaces goes to siblings of children in our other programs. This year, these spaces will be filled internally, with siblings of children in our other programs.

We are now planning for our Fall intake (September, or possibly over the summer) for children aged 30 months to five years:

We have started to send out invitations for families to attend our virtual open house for children wishing to enrol in a 3-5 year old program. Please note: these invitations are sent via email to families who have been on the waiting list long enough to potentially be offered a spot this year. Please check your spam for an email from childcare@kiwassa.ca or add us to your safe senders list. We hope to have these spots finalized in May.

In June, we will finalize spaces in our Out of School Care programs. We offer care to students of Hastings and Tillicum schools, and unfortunately, due to high demand, we don’t expect to have any spaces available for children not already in Kiwassa Childcare programs.

Thank-you very much for your interest in Kiwassa’s childcare programs… and thank you for your patience!

COVID-19 Update

Please see our Childcare Action Plan, revised February 25, 2021.

For more than 30 years, Kiwassa has been providing nurturing, stimulating and inclusive childcare programs that help children progress in their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Our programs support children’s natural sense of curiosity, knowledge and confidence. Our staff are trained and certified in Early Childhood Education and are committed to providing inclusive programs, with a focus on meeting the specific needs and interests of each individual child, and engaging in a responsive curriculum.

Our programs are licensed under the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and comply with the Provincial Child Care Licensing Regulations. We have been approved for the provincial Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative from April 2020–March 2021, which reduces fees for children in Kindergarten and younger. Assistance with the Affordable Child Care Benefit application for eligible families is available at each centre. To be added to our waiting list, please scroll down and enter your information. Once you have done that, you will officially be on our waiting list and we will contact you as soon as we may have an opening for your child.

We typically have many openings in September and very few throughout the rest of the year. Our waiting list for children under three is currently exceptionally long, and openings for this age group are very rare, with priority going to siblings of children in other Kiwassa programs. If you would like your child to attend one of our programs in the future, please complete the form below, which will automatically add you to the waiting list.

Please understand that due to the high volume of requests we receive, we are unable to respond to individual inquiries regarding where your child is on the waiting list and anticipated enrolment date.
