Kiwassa is a place where families find friends and opportunities.
Kiwassa works together with and supports local families, who reflect all the diversity in our community. The neighbourhood house is a great place to connect with others who share similar interests and concerns. Learning and celebrating together can make raising a family easier and more fun. If you have an idea for a family or community activity, speak with us. Many of our current programs came directly from the ideas and energies of people just like you. For more information contact the Family Programs Coordinator at 604.254.5401 ext 219 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
A broad range of free multicultural programs are open to all families with children age 0 – 6. Programs include Family Place drop-in, Mother Goose, and much more. Kiwassa also operates several quality licenced group childcare programs and preschool.
Our range of parent supports includes information and referral services, parent support groups, settlement and family counseling and parent education workshops.
Everyone can help make things happen for our community, as participants, volunteers, good neighbours and leaders. Consider leading an activity or applying for a neighbourhood small grant.
Supporting food security, we offer a free daily breakfast for children and families, a food bank for low-income families, healthy lunches and snacks, community dinners and cooking programs for families.
Several times a year Kiwassa offers special events for children and families including an annual Childcare Picnic, fall Open House, Halloween Carnival, Breakfast with Santa, Winter Celebration, and Community Dinners.
