Kiwassa has resources, information and opportunities to share.
Kiwassa provides opportunities and support for people in our community, in a respectful, relaxed and informal atmosphere that welcomes everyone. Our community bulletin boards and our staff, volunteers and active community members are a wealth of information about ways to support your own well-being and be involved in the community.
One on one counseling, support, advocacy and referrals are available, including translation, settlement support, family and domestic violence programs, life skills and coaching, education workshops and information and referral services.
Kiwassa provides a free phone to community members during weekday business hours, through our front reception area. Coffee is on until mid-day, and sometimes we have snacks to go with it. Our welcoming couches encourage people to relax, get to know others and find out about community resources.
Internet access is available during all open hours, in our front lobby, and in the community computer lab during public drop-in hours.
Job seekers can browse hundreds of up to date job postings on our job posting board, and access the internet for job search through our community computers. Training opportunities exist within our food programs, and employment support counselors help newcomers and those on income assistance move towards employment or a better quality if life and community involvement.
Volunteering at Kiwassa or in the neighbourhood makes a real difference and is a great way to give back. We also welcome ideas and feedback and invitations to collaborate. Everyone has something of importance to offer. Share your ideas with our Volunteer & Community Development Coordinator at 604-254-5401 ext 212 or firstname.lastname@example.org
